Helping Mothers & Babies Survive (HMBS) Programs
Supporting Safe Birth uses the programs Helping Mothers and Babies Survive, which were developed in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), US Agency for International Development (USAID), JHPIEGO, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and several other global health agencies. They are designed to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality in low resource areas. The highly visual learner’s booklets, along with mannequins, such as the MamaNatalie, MamaBirthie, and NeoNatalie and BabyBirthie simulators, allow for hands-on, experiential learning.
Helping Mothers Survive (HMS) and Helping Babies Survive (HBS) programs are now combined and called Helping Mothers and Babies Survive. These simulation-based learning modules are designed to improve and sustain the critical skills of midwives, nurses, doctors, and others who assist them to care for women during pregnancy, labor, and delivery and reduce neonatal mortality and improve newborn care in resource-limited areas around the world (JHPIEGO, American Academy of Pediatrics).

HMBS MODULES
Bleeding After Birth Complete – Day 1
